Brenda's Houses and a Word from Zerna

TBFQ houses from Brenda

I've just received a great letter from Zerna, my new friend in Ellensburg who is the coordinator of this project. I'm her helper on the west end of the county! I'll copy and paste it below, but FIRST, here are four fabulous house blocks that Brenda in Saskatchewan made for the quilt project!! She was kind enough to photograph these for me at the last minute on Sunday night before she boxed them up to put in today's mail. Notice the animals in some of the windows, and the flowers and grass in the front yards. Priceless!!! I'm looking forward to adding these to our scrappy quilts. Wouldn't it be fun to have one house block on each sampler quilt?

And now, here is Zerna's letter to all of us quilters. There is such an outpouring of help coming from all directions, that we are not the only group who has joined up to make quilts for the fire victims. We all have slightly different visions, but all agree that we want to wrap these families in quilty love.

Here is is!

hello, folks--i want to just make a few things clear about this group, and what my vision is.

i believe there is no limit to the amount of good we can do if we don't care who gets the credit.

meeting people who havef you, and those of you i haven't met, i'm sure we'd be fast friends! what an amazing amount of love and talent you all possess!

i have debated with myself, and spoken with some other quilters, and i would still like to see that each and every family member who has lost their home receives a quilt for cuddling. wrapping yourself in a quilt is the, and they'll be meeting on fridays to accomplish that. if the eburg community quilters decide to oversee the queen size quilts, that would be great. if you would like to donate a big quilt, that's great, too. we'll work on getting that all coordinated.

my hope is that this facebook group will be a central point for quilt donations for fire survivors. i will do everything i can to discover who needs quilts, and then make sure your gifts of love are delivered. tomorrow is my day foo working on that, so i -appreciate your patience. i will compile a confidential list of families, and the make-up (i.e. moy craft yournow some of you, and those of you i haven't met, i'm sure we'd be fast friends! what an amazing amount of love and talent you all possess!

have quilts ready to go. i'm not here to tell you how to exercise your gifts. please do as you would normally, and i'll see that quilts get delivered.

what i need from you is good communication and patience. let me know what you plan to do, and be patient with me while i work out the details.

the list will look something like this:
family #1
queen size quilt for home
it would be best, if possible, to find quilters in your area to do the quilti gift. some of you may

the list will look something like this:
family #1
queen size quilt for home
lap size (roughly 5X6 feet)
5 total, 3 female, 2 male (mom, dad, grandma, teen boy, teen girl)
child's quilt (at least 4X4)
1 toddler boy

from that, you would send me a private message, saying, "i'd like to make the child's quilt and 2 female lap quilts for family #1" i would then transfer that to the master list, with your name by the quilts you want to make. when the list is full, we won't be accepting more quilts.

if you just want to donate quilts, let me know the size and gender (if applicable), and i'll plug them in where needed.

it would be best, if possible, to find quilters in your area to do the quilting and binding. if you absolutely can't, please talk to me before you send quilt tops. we may or may not have the ability to finish them. i will be coordinating this, as well. please let me know if you want to be listed as a quilter or binder.

my goal is that quilts would be delivered by thanksgiving at the latest. if you set as your deadline the end of october, that should make it workable for me.
if you have any questions, please private message me. i may make changes to this as needed, but here's the general guidelines.

thank you all for you love, your creativity and your generosity.

-Zerna
